Effective Phonics Intervention: Strategies for Success in Early Literacy
A Talk by Claire Davis (Assistant Headteacher)
About this Talk
This presentation outlines the various types of intervention strategies we use and demonstrates their success in accelerating literacy progress for our children. Traditional intervention outside of the Sounds-Write lesson offers tailored support to address specific needs. Intervention in the moment enables children to build words with practitioner support during whole-class lessons. Using lessons from the Sounds-Write program with individual children fosters phonics mastery and confidence. Small group reading sessions provide collaborative spaces for skill application and practice, ensuring children develop their abilities at an appropriate pace.
