Intervening with Intent: Assessing Need, Implementing Strategies and Monitoring Effectiveness
A Talk by Georgia Orchin (Deputy Head, St. George's)
About this Talk
At St. George’s, we advocate for whole class teaching across the curriculum. However, we recognise that pupils learn at different rates and have different starting points- this is particularly true when it comes to phonics. Today, I am going to talk about the vital role that interventions play in securing our children’s phonological knowledge. I will share with you how we identify who needs intervention, what different types of intervention look and how I, as a senior leader, assess and monitor the effectiveness of intervention.
