Using Sounds-Write in a Mainstream School with Specialist Provisions
A Talk by Emma Enderwick (Phonics and Early Reading Lead, Sunnyside Academy)
About this Talk
Sunnyside Academy is a unique mainstream school, with provision for children with moderate learning difficulties, vision impairments and those who are deaf. Children learn alongside each other in a mainstream setting, with provisions adapted for their needs. I will discuss how we make slight adaptations when delivering Sounds-Write to some children with SEND, whilst still adhering to the fidelity of the scheme. I will also discuss some simple interventions we use to support our leaners.
